Divorce and Taxes

While taxes is something that happens every year and can be planned for, divorce is not that simple. For many people, divorce comes as an unexpected event in their life and with so much going on, taxes and financial planning is not always in the front of their mind. Unfortunately, not properly assessing your current and future finances during a divorce can cause long-term impacts, many of which can be avoided.

Things to think about:

  • Alimony or spousal maintenance
  • Child support
  • Claiming children for tax purposes
  • Equitable separation of assets

If you have found yourself going through a divorce and would like to discuss your financial options, give me a call or schedule an appointment.
